What’s the fuss about V-steaming? Vaginal Steaming also known as V-steaming has been a hot topic lately. I have been hearing so many great reviews about this well known natural healing practice. I even seen it recently on reality TV shows such as the Real Housewives of Atlanta and Little Women of Atlanta (don’t judge me) lol. So because of its rising popularity I want in on this new trend. Times have changed and the old method of douching may be a thing of the past because it has been shown to be too harsh on our sensitive lady part. Without douching what other ways have you heard of to cleanse or detox your vagina? So that’s why I am here for V-Steaming and utilizing more Westernized medical practices to help improve women’s reproductive health. I was able to have a conversation with Donna Chatmon of Cleveland’s Sugar Sweet Beauty Bar to get more details on V-Steaming to find out if this trend is something that I may need to check out. See what she has to say below.
Who is Donna?

Donna Chatmon is a licensed esthetician and sugar professional who specializes in body sugaring and vaginal steaming. Donna began doing sugar waxing two years ago and recently added vaginal steaming to her services. She recently started her own business and opened a shop called Sugar Sweet Beauty Bar in Shaker Heights, OH. Donna is a strong believer that women should embrace their feminine power and feel comfortable and connected with their bodies. She provides many vaginal womb healing services such as natural sugar waxing for hair removal, V-Steaming, all-natural vaginal facials and holistic self-care techniques.
“I want every woman that comes to me to feel comfortable and at home in a relaxed environment at my studio.”
Donna Chatmon
What is a V-Steam?

Vaginal steaming works by applying gentle heat, as well as moisture that carries medicinal plant oils from different herbs to the vulva (the exterior tissues of the vagina). The warmth and moisture increase circulation to the vulva, causing it to swell and expose the inner labial mucus membranes. These tissues are very porous and absorbent, allowing the bloodstream to pick up the medicinal oils and carry them into the inner reproductive system.
What is the importance of a V-Steam and what benefits can women receive from having one?
Most commonly, vaginal steaming is used for postpartum care after a woman has a baby. Vaginal steaming can also be used as a hygienic post-period practice to help with menstrual cramps and gynecological problems, such as cramps, trouble conceiving, infections, fibroids, cysts, dryness and more. Vaginal steaming helps to naturally get rid of these common health problems and is an important tool for self-care.
What type of V-Steams do you offer?
I currently do a general cleanse but I do plan on providing specific treatment plans in the future.
Do you have any other recommendations for women to improve their reproductive health?
I would say just for women to really pay attention to your body and how your feeling and to love on yourself more. Because when you love on yourself more and take care of your life everything else will flow easy.
