Why you should try Sugar Waxing?

Summer is coming and I’m getting ready! For me that means it’s time to get rid of that winter bush down below lol. Ladies we all know how hard it is to keep our bikini area smooth and clean. Beauty is pain but it doesn’t have to be time consuming. With my busy life I swear I do not have the time to shave every couple days. So among saving time there are a couple other benefits as to why I prefer sugar waxing as my go to for hair removal. It is a natural form of hair removal that is better for women especially women of color because our hair tends to grow curly/kinky when we shave it can curl back under the skin which causes ingrown hairs. Who wants their bikini area to look all rough and bumpy? Not me! But when sugaring the hair is removed from the root, which prevents the hair from curling back into skin and reduces the chances for ingrown hairs to develop.  The sugar also acts as an exfoiliator for the skin and helps lighten the appearance of dark marks or skin discoloration. So why not give sugaring a try?

Why I prefer Sugar Waxing…….

Shaving just was not working for me. I mean it gave me my quick painless fix but after a couple a day’s my skin would become extremely irritated. My bikini area has become visibly darker and I keep getting ingrown hairs. My ingrown hairs are vicious too they get infected and usually turn into a very painful large lump under my skin. I usually have to treat them with an antibiotic for them to completely heal. I have always had sensitive skin even in the past I have had to wash my panties in sensitive detergent because it will irritate my skin. I needed a more natural and sensitive form of hair removal and I have found sugaring to be my answer. I use to only get waxes on special occasions like weddings or vacations because I loved how long it would take for the hair to grow back, but now I have decided to become a regular waxer for the benefit of my skin.

I’m not going to lie and tell you sugar waxing doesn’t hurt I mean the hair is still being removed from a sensitive area so yes it causes pain. But the pain is not unbearable, its quick and goes away in a few seconds. Plus the benefits from sugar waxing make the pain worth it all in the end I promise. Here are a couple things you can do to ensure you have a great wax experience this summer:

  • Find an experienced esthetician

Do your research to find a good esthetician who is experienced in waxing. Word of mouth is always a great way to ensure someone is qualified. An experienced waxer has a good technique that makes them move quicker and ultimately get you in and out. And hey the faster the better right!

  • Stay calm and get comfortable

Try your best to relax. I tend to get a little anxious because I know the pain is coming but then I take some deep breathes to calm myself. If you squirm and close your legs, it’s just going to make the experience last longer. It ok to scream and even flinch a bit but keep them legs open.

  • Talk

A good conversation can really take your mind off of the pain. I mean you’re already spread eagle with your most intimate body part out so hey why not get to know each other. Lol  Just start talking and before you know it you will look up and be all done.

Really interesting! I haven’t heard much about sugar waxing. Did the traditional wax for a while and then went the laser hair removal route. When I used to do the traditional wax they’d recommend taking a pain reliever prior to help ease the sting/swelling.

I had no idea about this, and I totally hate shaving too. It grows back like the next day and is a pain to keep up with all summer. I’ll have to look into this!
